The Saratoga Springs girls at the start of the Girls Eastern States, which they won for the 6th straight year, 133-147 over Hilton, NY.

It rained and rained, and just when you thought the wind couldn't get any worse - it got a lot worse.  It was a day that most NY coaches say was one of the worst days ever for a meet and the worst Manhattan has seen since the mid 1970's.

And while the Yankees game was canceled, the races went on all day - on schedule.

The girls of NY showed they are the best around as a New York girl won every individual race and a NY girls team did the same.  Even in the Eastern States Championships, NY swept the top 4 places and took 7 of the top 10.

The boys races had a little more diversity, but Fayettville-Manlius, NY was the best team again on this day, putting 4 under 13:00 and a 5th at 13:16 to beat CBA and Morris Hills, both of NJ.

Girls Eastern States

In what many were billing as the deepest race in the history of the meet as well as maybe the deepest race ever held in the Northeast, the Saratoga girls won for the 6th straight year, holding off a strong Hilton, NY squad, 133-147.  Saratoga's Hannah Davidson and Lindsey Ferguson finished 3-4 to lead the squad.  Defending Footlocker National Champion Ailinn Ryan won in 14:04, beating 2nd place by 38 seconds.  Her time ranks her 3rd best ever at VCP, missing Nicole Blood's record of 13:58 set last year, though most track nuts say that this performance, based on the treacherous conditions, will go down as the best ever here at Manhattan.
