CHSAA Girls Coaches Poll

Dr. Charles Clark, economics professor at St. John's University and a CHSAA Cross Country parent, will apply his considerable skill at statistical analysis to the weekly coaches' poll for the CHSAA Girls Cross Country league.

Week 9 - City Champs Wrap-up
City Champs St. John Villa (what was I thinking with a 4th place prediction,
but then again I have predicted 5 out of the last 3 recessions). Clutch
running by top five runners, all of whom run PB's, with Steph Burdge's
cutting over 30 seconds off PB (this is where the meet was won IMHO, top four
in before St. Anthony's second) and a top five avg of 17:05 (by far the best
team effort this season). Congratulations also to Kelly Flood and Malorie
Dzenius for first and second in one of the closest races in years. Gone are
the days with Pilar Marin running all by herself. Its more exciting when top
three runners finish within 10 seconds (Pilar rarely had a runner within 60
seconds). Our best wishes go out to St. Francis Prep's Suzanne Griffing, the
pre-race favorite (only runner under 16 min.'s this season) and we hope she
has a speedy recovery. It was also good to see so many former CHSAA runners
in the college race, unfortunately mixed in with our race (they must have
felt like they were in a time warp). All in all an exciting day at VCP.
